God's Amazing Love

What marvelous love the Father has extended to us! Just look at it—we're called children of God! That's who we really are. But that's also why the world doesn't recognize us or take us seriously, because it has no idea who he is or what he's up to. (I John 3:1, The Message)

When we understand that God truly loves us, it sets us free from a lot of things that weigh us down, like worrying about other people's opinion of us, worrying about the future, and regretting the past. If you find yourself getting bogged down in life's worries or fears, it's probably time to get alone with God, spending some time reading, praying, and worshipping. God will remind you of how great His love for you is, and you will see your worries and fears fade. You may very well have God put someone else on your heart to pray for or go help. Your entire focus will have been changed.

Worship at Midnight

Who could sleep after being beaten and put in stocks in a prison? Paul and Silas were only doing what they were supposed to do, and it got them beaten and put in prison. But when they chose to praise God anyway, God changed everything.

Acts 16:23 After they had been severely flogged, they were thrown into prison, and the jailer was commanded to guard them carefully. 24 Upon receiving such orders, he put them in the inner cell and fastened their feet in the stocks. 25 About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. 26 Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everybody’s chains came loose.

Meeting September 9 - Respect

Our next regular meeting is Tuesday, September 9, at 6:30 pm at Prayer Watch Christian Center, 602 S. Washington St. in Kennewick. Our topic will be "Respect."

1 Peter 2:17, starts with the command, "Show proper respect to everyone."
In the original Greek, this is just two words
timao = value, respect, or honor
pas = each or everyone

There is a respect that is due to everyone, because we are all made and loved by God. If we deny others this respect, we deny it to ourselves as well. Or, looking at it the other way around, if we can't see the value that God puts on us, we can't see it in others.

This respect is in contrast to that which is given based on the things that set us apart; beauty, ability, accomplishment, power, and possessions. These things are all temporary. If we value others based on these things,we will try to find our own worth in them. We will always be insecure, because none of these things can last, and all are unpredictable.

Welcome to Singles 4 Christ

We are a fellowship of Christian Singles, meeting monthly in Kennewick, Washington. Our next meeting is Tuesday, September 9, at 6:30 pm at Prayer Watch Christian Center at 602 S. Washington St., Kennewick, WA

Here's what we have so far for vision and values. Let us know what you think.

Vision:
To be a Bible-based, non-denominational, fellowship of single Christian adults, where people feel safe, supported, and respected.

Values:
Biblical Principles
– We are a Christian group. We want to reflect this in our meetings and other activities and in the way we honor God’s plan for male/female relationships.
Respect – We will offer respect to each other in the way we speak to each other, honor one another, and maintain healthy relationships with each other.
Joy – We believe in sharing each other’s heartaches, but our meetings will focus more on sharing our joy.
Inclusive – We are open to all singles, regardless of their background, race, age, or economic status.
Non-judgmental - We will avoid being judgemental, while maintaining Biblical accountability, and a core commitment to Christian values.
Prayer – We will support each other in prayer and make prayer a regular part of our meetings.
Balance – We intend to provide a monthly fellowship that centers on a topic of interest, and other events, approximately monthly, that are just for fun and fellowship.
Support for each other - Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. (1 Corinthians 12:27)
